On the set of Stranger Things, the line between fiction and reality often blurred for its young cast. From eerie night shoots to terrifying practical effects, the series created moments that felt all too real for those bringing Hawkins to life. Among them was apparently a scene that pushed emotions beyond the script, leaving Millie Bobby Brown genuinely shaken. In a recent chat, Gaten Matarazzo opened up about the same.

As he recounted what played out behind the camera, it sounded just as wild as what fans saw onscreen.

In a clip shared by Netflix on October 2, Gaten Matarazzo and Finn Wolfhard revisited a key scene from Stranger Things season 1, chapter 8. While recalling the Demogorgon showdown, both actors revealed the surreal filming process, with tennis balls and sound effects standing in for the monster. The standout moment, according to Matarazzo, however, came when Millie Bobby Brown, startled by unexpected Jurassic Park-inspired roars from a hidden speaker, bolted mid-scene, leading to the mishap being cut from the show but forever etched in his memories.

While Gaten Matarazzo spoke about Millie Bobby Brown’s reaction to filming the scene, Finn Wolfhard, for his part, reminisced about his own experience of taping the sequence, labelling it as his first proper emotional acting beat. Wolfhard revealed that he pretended to have the real Demogorgon haunting him to bring out his effort. His performance impressed Matarazzo, who remarked, in the aforementioned Netflix clip, how good his co-star was and is still. With Netflix dropping the blast from the past as Stranger Things season 5 approaches, though, the actors, as much as they appear to have had a gala working on the show, seem to be moving on.
