Millie Bobby Brown is looking back at Stranger Things and calling her bond with David Harbour one she will always remember and value,”both on and off the screen. The relationship between Eleven and Jim Hopper has always been the emotional spine of the show: a traumatized girl learning to be a daughter, and a broken cop learning how to be a father again.

That same trust and vulnerability, Brown recently revealed, grew just as deeply between the actors over five seasons together.

Talking with Variety over email, Millie Bobby Brown reflected on how much she evolved during the show’s run.

“Obviously I changed so much from Season 1 to Season 5, and David was there through all of it,” she said. Beginning as a young teenager, she carried heavy emotional material while adjusting to the pressures of global fame alongside Harbour. Their performances grew more layered as the story demanded deeper emotional stakes.

Major arcs such as Hopper’s apparent death in Season 3 and his return from a Russian prison in Season 4 required intense, grounded work. That process, Brown explained, was something they developed together over time.

“Over time, our relationship became much more collaborative creatively,” she shared. What began as a dynamic between an experienced actor and a newcomer eventually became a partnership where both shaped scenes together. By the later seasons, key moments between Hopper and Eleven were crafted through shared input, allowing them to push each other emotionally.

“Even though the series has ended, there’s still a lot of gratitude,” Brown added. She described her years working with Harbour as something she will always remember and value. For Brown, that connection stands as one of the most meaningful parts of her journey on the show.

The story places her between a long-awaited wedding and a sudden family crisis. The trailer opens with Enola in a carriage, dressed for her wedding to Lord Tewkesbury, played by Louis Partridge. Even in that moment, her instincts take over as she notices she is being followed.

Within seconds, she shifts from bride to detective, climbing onto the carriage roof and confronting the threat head-on. The turning point arrives when she learns that her brother Sherlock, portrayed again by Henry Cavill, has been kidnapped. The case leads her to Malta, where her personal and professional lives collide.

Her relationship with Tewkesbury faces strain as she chooses between commitment and responsibility. Returning cast members include Helena Bonham Carter and Sharon Duncan-Brewster, with Philip Barantini directing the film. Inspired by Nancy Springer’s books, Enola Holmes 3 expands its scope with a new setting and higher stakes. The film premieres on Netflix on July 1.
