Michael Chaves-helmed Yeti takes shape at Netflix
Netflix is moving forward with its next big creature movie, Yeti, directed by Michael Chaves, known for The Conjuring: The Devil’s Rites, The Nun II, and The Curse of La Llorona. According to What’s on Netflix, filming for the project, which was first set up at Sony Pictures, is scheduled to start on March 3, 2026, in Budapest, Hungary, and will run for 13 weeks.
Casting is underway, but Netflix has not revealed any names yet and has not officially announced the project. It will likely do so only when it has its stars locked. The script for the offering sees Peter Gaffney and Sean Tretta contributing.
Yeti, according to What’s on Netflix, is set in the snowy Swiss Alps, where a father and his teenage daughter, Zoey, face a terrifying challenge after an avalanche uncovers a hidden ancient predator. The creature, perfectly blending into the snow, hunts them across the mountains. As they fight to survive, the experience forces the girl, still fathoming her parents’ divorce, to reconnect with her dad.
With a 2026 shooting plan, this creature is assumed to appear on Netflix screens only sometime in 2027. However, the streaming giant does not have a scarcity of other beastly monsters entertaining its users.
One effort featuring a brutal lifeform has recently hit the platform and charted among the top movies with effortless ease.

In the US Top 10 movies chart for the week of December 1–7, the movie climbed to the number one spot, leaving behind arguably the best festive release of the season, My Secret Santa, and other debutants.
The sequel continues the Norwegian monster saga, with heroes Nora Tidemann, Andreas Isaksen, and Kristoffer Holm reuniting to stop a dangerous new troll wreaking havoc.
