Michael B. Jordan struck gold with his previous outing with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, winning his first Oscar for playing twins Smoke and Stack in the movie. The actor received high praise for his acting performance along with several accolades during the recently concluded award season. This built sky-high anticipation for his next venture, which will have to bear the weight of Jordan’s newfound success. Michael B. Jordan’s upcoming movie is the Skydance Animation presentation titled Swapped, releasing on Netflix on May 1, 2026. The first official trailer for the upcoming animated family entertainer Swapped, which stars the Oscar-winning actor alongside Juno Temple, has been released by the streamer. The trailer does not disappoint and presents Jordan in a fun role, entirely different from his characters in Sinners.

Stills from the movie (formerly known as Pookoo) were previously released by Netflix and Skydance Animation, and now the trailer has given a full glimpse of the world that the makers have tried to build for this family entertainer. Together with Jordan and Temple, the comedy will feature the voices of Cedric the Entertainer, Tracy Morgan, Justina Machado, Ambika Mod, and Lolly Adefope.

Nathan Greno, who co-directed Tangled with Byron Howard at Disney, is the director of the film, and John Lasseter, Howard's former supervisor at Walt Disney Animation Studios, produced it with Mary Ellen Bauder Andrews, David Ellison, and Dana Goldberg.

Talking about the animation, Skydance Animation is responsible for the artwork, which looks top-notch in the trailer. But so do the story and the characters in it.

A hilarious comedy with friendship at the core

In the fictional fantasy world of Swapped, a race of birds and a tribe of woodland creatures are constantly at loggerheads, mostly for food. One of the forest creatures, Ollie (Michael B. Jordan), somehow exchanges bodies with one of the birds, Ivy (Juno Temple), because of a magical flower. They embark on a journey to transform back into their bodies and encounter a number of perilous challenges. As they go along, they become aware of how similar they actually are and develop a friendly bond.

The trailer has given enough to go on about the movie, which marks Jordan's return after winning the Oscar. Besides this, he has other projects in his bag, like the reimagination of the beloved movie The Thomas Crown Affair, which he will both direct and feature in. Apart from that, he has the Miami Vice reboot for which he has reportedly demanded a pay raise following his Academy win. For now, the focus remains on Swapped as it is scheduled to release soon.
