Meghan Markle and Guy Ritchie are not two names that naturally belong in the same casting conversation, which is exactly what makes the latest Hollywood whisper so intriguing. Since leaving Suits, Markle has taken a very different route through the entertainment business, building a Netflix relationship through Archewell Productions while keeping her acting career largely on the sidelines. Now, that old chapter may be closer to reopening than anyone expected.
The rumor has the kind of Hollywood symmetry that almost writes its own cold open: the former Suits star, a British-set crime series, and the filmmaker who made sharply dressed criminals feel like their own cinematic genre.
Meghan Markle could be heading into Guy Ritchie’s world
Deadline reported exclusively that Meghan Markle has had preliminary conversations about potentially joining The Gentlemen for a possible third season. There is a sizeable asterisk attached to that sentence, however. The series has not yet been renewed for Season 3, the conversations are described as being in very early stages, and no specific role has been identified.

Still, the pairing makes sense from a Netflix strategy perspective. Markle has not exactly disappeared from the platform since stepping away from Suits. Her Netflix work with Prince Harry has included Harry & Meghan and With Love, Meghan, while her broader acting comeback has already been teased through her announced cameo in Close Personal Friends. A prominent part in The Gentlemen would be a considerably different proposition.
And there is another layer to the timing. Markle and Prince Harry recently announced plans to spend an extended period back in the UK after years based in California, making a British production particularly intriguing.
The question, then, is whether Ritchie’s particular brand of chaos is the right vehicle for the comeback.
Why The Gentlemen could be a very smart comeback vehicle
The Gentlemen is not simply another Netflix crime drama wearing an expensive suit. The series takes the DNA of Guy Ritchie’s 2019 film and expands it into an ensemble story about aristocracy, criminal enterprise and the wonderfully British collision between old money and drug money. Theo James plays Eddie Horniman, an aristocrat who inherits his family estate only to discover that it sits atop a lucrative weed operation. Kaya Scodelario’s Susie Glass becomes his formidable criminal counterpart.

Season 2, arriving September 3, pushes Eddie and Susie beyond their original operation and into international territory, with Italy becoming the new battleground and Sergio Castellitto and Michele Morrone joining the expanding ensemble. That gives a potential third season plenty of room to introduce another high-profile player without simply recycling the first season's formula.
For Markle, that could be the interesting part. A showy supporting role in Ritchie's universe would allow her to return to acting through character, dialogue and ensemble chemistry rather than making the comeback itself the entire story.
Nothing is locked yet, but this is exactly the kind of casting rumor that can become much bigger if the pieces eventually fall into place.
