The brains behind the magnanimously successful series Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer, will launch three new series on Netflix under their production company, Upside Down Pictures. Among those three, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen will be the first to hit the streamer. A trailer was also released for the same, which has fascinated audiences with its eerie and creepy vibe.

What also stood out were the first impressions of the cast involved and the looming dread that their performance made the viewers feel.

Camila Morrone as Rachel Harkin: Morrone plays the bride-to-be in this creepy horror drama. She plays a girl who is clueless as to what she has signed up for by agreeing to marry Nicky. The previous credits of the Emmy-nominated actress include Daisy Jones & The Six (2023) and The Night Manager (since 2016).

Adam DiMarco as Nicky Cunningham: DiMarco plays the wealthy but mysterious Nicky, who seems to be in love with Rachel but also harbors a disturbing secret at the same time. He was previously seen in The White Lotus (2021) and Overcompensating (since 2025).

Jennifer Jason Leigh as Victoria Cunningham: Jason Leigh as Victoria was the most creepy and haunting element in the entire trailer, and she might be the one Rachel should actually watch out for. Her previous ventures include Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) and The Hateful Eight (2015).

Ted Levine as Boris Cunningham: Levine appeared as a loving and supporting husband to Victoria who is simply happy for his son. He has featured in films like The Silence of the Lambs (1991) and The Hills Have Eyes (2006).

Other supporting cast members include Gus Birney as Portia Cunningham, Jeff Wilbusch as Jules Cunningham, Karla Crome as Nell, and Zlatko Burić in an important role. The cast looks stacked, and some of the performances in the trailer itself have caused the hype around the series to go up by several notches.

Well, the hype is also about the premise, which gives off the vibe of something like Meet the Parents crossed with Ready or Not.

The story follows Rachel who says yes to a wedding proposal by a wealthy young man named Nicky. They both seem madly in love, and the decision seems to be a bit rushed, but they roll with it anyway. They decide to get married in Nicky’s parents’ secluded home in the woods. 

Everything seems to be like a fairy tale for Rachel until she arrives at the wedding location and meets Nicky’s family. The atmosphere soon changes, and the picturesque surroundings begin to feel less cozy. From there everything goes downhill for Rachel, and she begins to question her decision to agree to marry Nicky. Duffer Brothers’ latest series will be released on Netflix on March 26 and will be eight episodes long.
