Matt Duffer, in a recent interview with SFX, revealed that Holly Wheeler, the youngest of the Wheeler siblings, will take on a pivotal role in the show’s final season. Portrayed by twins Anniston and Tinsley Price in the seasons so far, Holly’s character will serve as a centerpiece in season 5, Duffer suggested. While he did not explain what heroic or twist-filled arc she could deliver, except that audiences will realize it as they experience the season, he elaborated on another reason for bringing the character into the spotlight: To capture some of the essence of the early Stranger Things seasons.

While the Duffer Brothers had outlined the show’s mythology as early as season 2, several story elements were reshaped as they continued developing the finale. “Things change as you make discoveries each season,” Duffer noted, emphasizing that Holly’s expanded importance was a natural evolution. The character, notably, was also recast for the soon-to-be-released installment.
The actress stepping into Anniston and Tinsley Price’s shoes not only looks more grown-up but also brings the experience needed to handle a heavier role.

Fisher, best known for her performance in Evil Dead Rise, brings the required gravitas with her.
