Long Before Meghan Markle Became a Royal, the Late American TV Host, Larry King Once Predicted Her Exit From Hollywood
With so much written and spoken about Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, it is hard to remember a time when the Royal lady was Meghan Markle, the American actress. In fact, she had quite a successful role in USA Network’s legal Drama, Suits. While on the show, she did several interviews with her co-stars in order to promote the series. One of them was with the Emmy-winning broadcaster, Larry King.
Before the infamous and much-talked-about Megxit, Meghan Markle left another part of her life behind. As part of the Royal rules, she had to put an end to her acting career before marrying Prince Harry. Incidentally, before any of these events transpired, Larry King speculated about Markle’s departure from Hollywood.

Did Larry King foresee Meghan Markle leaving Hollywood?
Back in 2013, Meghan Markle and her friend and co-star Patrick J. Adams appeared on Larry King Now to promote Suits season 3. After the tragic death of King in 2021, the video of their interview once again started doing the rounds of the internet. In the interview, Markle opened up about her audition for Suits and how it was “one of the worst ones” she ever gave. Surprisingly, in retrospect, Larry also asked Markle and Adams if they ever considered bidding adieu to the entertainment industry, foreshadowing the former’s Hollywood retirement.
Markle admitted to having thoughts of quitting. However, she felt that she had lucked out since it is rare for everyone to make it in the industry.
“Some people are trying to do this for 20 years and still waiting tables,” expressed Meghan.

Considering she was only 6-7 years old in the industry at the time, Markle believed that “having a show like this with this level of success is crazy.” She even shares how eager she was when she hit the “five-year mark” in showbiz.
Ultimately, after her engagement to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle left the show after her successful 7-year recurring role. Today, they are happily married and live in California with their two kids, Archie and Lilibet. Harry and Meghan even run a company called Archewell Inc., which includes a non-profit and their own production.
