Directed by Cha Young Hoon, known for Welcome to Samdal-ri, We Are All Trying Here is set to bring another emotionally charged space to Netflix’s K-drama lineup. The drama gains added weight with the coming together of Koo Kyo Hwan, often hailed as a late-bloomer who rose from indie cinema to global hits like D.P and Parasyte: The Grey, and Go Youn Jung, currently among the industry’s most in-demand leads, making this pairing one of the more notable collaborations in recent K-dramas.

With the curtain set to rise on this emotionally layered narrative, the drama is scheduled to release on April 18, 2026 on Netflix and JTBC.

Written by Park Hae Young, known for My Mister, We Are All Trying Here is a 12-episode JTBC psychological drama, airing weekly on Saturdays and Sundays. However, the project also reflects a broader shift, with Netflix increasingly leaning into psychologically driven stories this year, adding to a growing slate that includes projects llike Time Out, starring Adam Sandler and Willem Dafoe.

Meanwhile, at the heart of it all, We Are All Trying Here follows Hwang Dong Man, an aspiring director who has spent years watching others move ahead while he remains stuck, his growing frustration hidden behind a restless, almost desperate front. Opposite him stands Byeon Eun A, a sharp and unfiltered producer whose composure begins to crack under the weight of her own buried wounds. As their worlds slowly close in, the story leans into the quiet kind of pain, where nothing explodes, yet everything begins to fall apart.

And as Netflix brings together two of its most powerful current leads, Koo Kyo Hwan and Go Youn Jung, the upcoming original K-drama We Are All Trying Here promises a story that doesn’t just unfold, but quietly stays with you.
