Eleven, her gang in Hawkins, and the Upside Down, Stranger Things season 5 is going to be the wrap-up of it all. And fans are expecting nothing short of an epic grand finale before bidding farewell to the show. Last checked, the mirror dimension was breaking through the ground, with smoke and ash gushing out of massive portals. Though Vecna is injured at the moment, it is obvious that once he is back on his feet, Mind Flayer and his horde will come charging out, turning Hawkins into a battleground for the world's fate.

It seems, however, that waiting for this ultimate showdown might push fans' patience even further, especially after a recent disappointing update from Maya Hawke.

Stranger Things season 5 started filming in January 2024, and Netflix marked the occasion with a photo of the full cast getting back into the swing of things. However, according to Maya Hawke, it is going to be some time before they wrap up filming. In an interview with TheWrap at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, Hawke, who plays Robin on the show, disclosed that they are still “in the first third” of the season. “I bet it will go late”, said the 25-year-old.

Before the pandemic, filming for each season usually lasted around six to seven months. After adding in the lengthy VFX post-production work, it usually took more than a year to complete a season. As for the final season, Netflix has not revealed a premiere date or even a release year for Season 5, but it seems like it will not be hitting the screens until at least 2025. While Hawke hinted at a potential timeline for the show, she kept quiet about any possible spoilers, which should not be shocking given the recent remarks from her well-known dad, Ethan Hawke.

Coming from a family with a passion for cinema, it is no surprise that Ethan Hawke takes an interest in his daughter Maya Hawke's projects, especially since she has become a sensation after Stranger Things. Yet, it appears that even her own father can not get her to break her silence. In an interview with PEOPLE about his upcoming film Wildcat, Ethan Hawke vented his frustration over his daughter's no-spoiler rule, saying, "I nudge her for them and she won't give them up!

The four-time Oscar nominee shared that his daughter thinks he has a "big mouth," so she has kept mum about any details from her "dear old dad." Even in her latest interview with TheWrap, the actress was careful not to "break" her "contract" by leaving fans to figure out the filming timeline themselves. Nevertheless, it seems increasingly likely that Stranger Things season 5 has been pushed further away from fans.
