Mr. T has lambasted Netflix for misrepresenting some aspects of his life in their new documentary. Streaming platforms frequently promise unfiltered looks at pop culture icons, but as one 1980s legend has just proven, subjects don't always appreciate how their legacies are framed. When unauthorized or unapproved biographical projects hit streaming, they often leave the very people being profiled completely blindsided - adding another fiery chapter to a long line of sports and entertainment stars publicly clashing with how their stories are told once the cameras stop rolling.

Mr. T seems to have taken offence to this approach, which is pretty evident from his latest rant about the Netflix doc.

Mr. T has no pity for his new Netflix doc

Mr. T did not hold back while expressing his candid opinions about the documentary, Untold: Mr. T: I Pity the Fool, which makes its Netflix debut on September 8, in a recent interview with The Guardian. Mr. T, whose real name is Laurence Tureaud, has openly denounced Netflix's recent documentary on his life, calling it "garbage" and claiming that after seeing the final product, he was truly angry.

“The documentary pissed me off, because they didn’t cover a lot of stuff,” Mr. T said.

While talking to The Guardian, he objects to the claim that his alleged misbehavior caused his film and television jobs to diminish. Mr. T claimed that leaving Hollywood was his own decision and felt that he had already achieved his acting goals after filming Rocky III. Specifically, he maintains that, unlike what the Netflix documentary may suggest, it was never about the money.

Furthermore, Mr. T cited a particular instance that greatly irritated him. The filmmakers interviewed his pastor for two full days, but the final documentary only included around thirty seconds of that discussion on screen. He described the editing choice as an example of someone outside his group trying to dictate and modify the tale of his own life, framing it as part of a larger pattern he has noticed.

Mr. T’s grievances with the Netflix doc do not just end here. There is more to his problem with the project.

Mr. T wanted the doc to take a different route

The inclusion of Mr. T's old agent, Peter Young, is another major issue he has with the filmmakers. Mr. T claims that he has already filed a lawsuit against Young for allegedly signing contracts without his consent. Young also takes issue with Mr. T's portrayal of the Bearded Lady in the 1993 dark comedy Freaked, which revolves around a freak show, in the documentary. Mr. T claims he had no issues with Freaked, referring to it as a "fine role," but he was quite disappointed to see Young in the documentary after requesting that director Scott Weintrob exclude him from the production.

He also claims that he requested to watch some of the documentary's material as it was being made, but he did not see any of it until just before it was supposed to be released on Netflix. He revealed that when he finally saw it, he was so upset that he had to pray to keep his composure and, in the end, chose to take the high road.
