Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia is a beloved animated series by DreamWorks that has found a dedicated fanbase through its intricate storyline, dark emotional tone, and excellent CGI animation, and most importantly, a streaming home on Netflix. All of this can only be possible because of the vision that creator Guillermo del Toro had for the series. The show has received accolades for its portrayal of immigrants and Latin Americans, as well as for its music, humor, and issues of prejudice. But now there are rumors regarding the removal of the series from Netflix. 

However, the truth behind the removal rumors of Tale of Arcadia is still out there to find.

Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia's departure from Netflix has not yet been formally confirmed, but it is widely believed to be on 21 July, as per a What's On Netflix estimate from 2025. Due to license agreements and the studio's move to other streaming services, including Hulu, Peacock, and Apple TV+, Netflix has been progressively losing various DreamWorks series, leading to Trollhunters being pitted with other shows from the production house having left.

Many DreamWorks series were initially distributed on Netflix under time-limited contracts. Due to Universal Studios' retention of the long-term rights, a number of titles, including Turbo Fast and The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show, have left Netflix in recent years. This indicates that although Trollhunters may ultimately depart Netflix, there is now no set date for its withdrawal, and it is still accessible for viewing.  

The most probable root cause of all these rumors might be the August 15, 2025, What’s On Netflix report that provided a list of all the DreamWorks Netflix shows slated to leave the streamer, with the estimated dates attached to reach the title. Although they maintained in their report that these dates are highly subject to change, the possibility of the Netflix original leaving the streamer cannot be completely dismissed.

While there remains an air of mystery around Tales of Arcadia’s ultimate fate on Netflix, the tension around its departure can be credited to how beloved the show and its premise are. 

Jim Lake Jr., a typical adolescent who lives in the suburban community of Arcadia Oaks, is the protagonist of Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia. He finds a magical necklace one day that selects him to be the first human Trollhunter, a protector tasked with protecting Trollmarket, the hidden troll world, from malevolent forces. Jim has to juggle his high school life with his new responsibilities under the guidance of the wise troll Blinky and the kind big troll AAARRRGGHH!!!. 

Jim first learns about the Gumm-Gumm trolls at the start of the series, especially Bular, the son of the imprisoned troll king Gunmar, who wants to free his father and subjugate both the human and troll worlds. Jim trains to use the amulet and face these threats with the help of his closest buddy, Toby Domzalski, and classmate Claire Nuñez, who ends up being both his girlfriend and a crucial ally. For the time being, the animated series is still available on Netflix to stream if someone has developed an interest in the show.
