Is There A JFK Jr. Documentary on Netflix?
John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s love story has been revived for a new generation in Love Story from Ryan Murphy, and this is all that people want to talk about on social media. The frenzy feels reminiscent of the 1990s, when breathless cameras and headlines followed the golden couple, explaining why they were the most photographed until their tragic passing in 1999. And Murphy’s series is also not the first to revisit the couple or the former president's son.
Over the years, a stream of documentaries have attempted to show John F. Kennedy Jr.’s life, pressure, and his relationship with Calvin Klein's publicist. So, here is a closer look at the documentaries that tried to show the person behind the fame and titles, and if they are available on Netflix.

The first documentary about the son of the 35th US president, John F. Kennedy, and former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy was America's Prince: The John F. Kennedy Jr. Story, which premiered in 2003. The film, starring Kristoffer Polaha and Portia de Rossi and directed by Eric Laneuville, focused on the life of John F. Kennedy Jr. It is available to stream on Netflix in certain regions.
I Am JFK Jr. (2016) is another documentary that explores Kennedy Jr.’s life and shows the intense spotlight he lived under and the pressure that followed him. It is available on Amazon Prime and on Netflix in certain regions.
Titled The Last Days of JFK Jr., the documentary showed interviews and archival footage of both Kennedy Jr. and his wife, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. The most recent project, American Prince: JFK Jr. (2025), is a three-part CNN series that explores his life and his efforts to build his magazine, George. Unfortunately, these two are not available on Netflix.
These are some of the productions that revisit what John F. Kennedy Jr. created and the legacy he left behind. And this year, it is Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette that is dominating headlines. The series stars Sarah Pidgeon and Paul Anthony Kelly as John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
Although the nine-episode series has sparked its share of controversy, fans have praised the show’s effort to recreate several of the couple’s most photographed and iconic moments from the past.
Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette tries to recreate history
Recreating moments from the past in the show was creator Connor Hines’s way of honoring John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. With that intention in mind, several memories, including the couple’s infamous fight in Central Park, were carefully recreated. Details like these are present throughout the show to make it as real as possible.
"We researched extensively, we read everything under the sun, and we made sure that everything had an essence of truth and nothing felt like an aberration from their real story," he told PEOPLE.

The series also stays true to key moments in their lives, such as Kennedy Jr. failing the bar exam twice and Bessette’s career trajectory at Calvin Klein. Iconic moments, headline-making events, and even fashion elements have been thoughtfully incorporated into the show. And all of it seems to have successfully revived 1990s nostalgia for a new generation of viewers.
