The Jekyll and Hyde series in question is a 10-episode British fantasy drama created by Charlie Higson. The show premiered on ITV in late 2015 and is set in 1930s London and is a loose adaptation of the classic story of Robert Louis Stevenson.

Instead of remaking the first narrative, the show is based on the character of the grandson of the notorious Henry Jekyll, Dr. Robert Jekyll. When Robert starts to discover some awful family secrets, he understands that he is the heir of his grandfather, with his awful split personality turning into Hyde, the violent and uncontrolled one. In the process, the show is overly filled with supernatural, secret organizations, and mythology about monsters.

Although the show acquired a cult audience with its expansive world-building and pulpiness, it was not well-received and was cancelled after a single season because of declining ratings and viewer complaints. Nonetheless, this has been revived by its introduction to Netflix, particularly among the audience that is fond of rediscovering neglected genre programming.
