The world of the four nations and its Avatar was widely loved when the show aired on Nickelodeon. Created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the animated series had adventure, rich storytelling, and impressive depth that charmed audiences of all ages. That love has not faded over the years, especially with the story being revisited in a live-action adaptation on Netflix.

But given the massive popularity of Avatar, is this the only live-action series based on the four nations and the Avatar, or does the streaming giant have more to offer?

Apart from the live-action series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, there is a 2010 live-action film titled The Last Airbender. And it is available to stream on Netflix. For those who are aware, the movie is based on the first season of the animated television series, Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Directed by M. Night Shyamalan, the movie starred Noah Ringer as Aang, Dev Patel as Prince Zuko, Nicola Peltz as Katara, and Seychelle Gabriel as Princess Yue. The star-studded cast also included Shaun Toub, Jackson Rathbone, Aasif Mandvi, and Francis Guinan. It followed Avatar, who must learn to master all four elements, water, fire, air, and earth, to bring peace to the world.

Despite facing severe criticism for its casting choices and disappointing special effects, the movie still managed to earn $320 million on a $150 million budget. Nearly 14 years after that live-action film, Netflix decided to revisit the story with a series featuring eight episodes. Much to fans’ relief, the show was a massive success.
