No, neither of the documentaries is on Netflix. The very first documentary made on Sherri Papini’s baffling story was Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini, which premiered on June 20, 2024, on Hulu. However, currently, the documentary is available on Disney+ for streaming. The second one is Sherri Papini: Caught in the Lie - Season 1, which is streaming on Discovery+, HBO Max, HBO Max Amazon, and the Discovery+ Amazon Channel.
Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini dealt with the overall incident that took six years to unfold. Papini's now-ex-husband, Keith, his sister Sheila Koester, Papini's best friend Jennifer Harrison, Shasta County sheriff Kyle Wallace, FBI special agents Denis Farmer, Courtney Lannto, and Peter Jackson, among others, are interviewed for the three episodes of Hulu's limited series.
On the other hand, Sherri Papini: Caught in the Lie - Season 1 mostly presents Papini’s side of the story. The four-part docuseries features interviews with experts and Papini herself, who did not participate in the 2024 documentary but takes this one as an opportunity to explain the incident and its proceedings from her perspective.
When one learns about the web of lies and drama that happened in the Sherri Papini case, they would understand true crime fans' obsession with it.
The real story that became documentary material
The real story started with Sherri Papini going on a run. After going for a run close to her Redding, California, home, Sherri Papini, a wife and a mother of two, was reported missing in November 2016. According to a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, she reappeared after 22 days by the side of a highway on Thanksgiving Day, 146 miles south of where she had first vanished.

She claimed that two women had abducted her and left her with bruises and handcuffs. Papini stuck to her story for six years. However, after receiving more than $30,000 from the Victim Compensation Board following her disappearance, Papini was accused of 34 charges of mail fraud and one case of making false claims in 2022. To know her motive and the end result, one has to go watch the two documentaries.
