The harms of plastic are now known to people across almost all generations. And yet, there still seems to be a lack of awareness about the extent to which it is disrupting our lives. From the food to the clothes, it is shocking how deeply plastic is involved in everyday life. The Plastic Detox is a brilliant attempt that brings the focus on one such issue, giving a sharp reality check.

So, for those intrigued by the element that is quietly affecting lives, this long, investigative, and unsettling documentary is available to stream online.

Unsurprisingly, the documentary The Plastic Detox has found its place in the Netflix library. Released earlier on March 16, 2026, the documentary is now available to stream. It comes from acclaimed director Louie Psihoyos, who is also behind You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment.

For those unaware of the documentary, it follows six couples struggling with unexplained fertility issues as they attempt to reduce their exposure to plastic-related chemicals over three months under the guidance of environmental and reproductive epidemiologist Shanna H. Swan. During this 90-day experiment, the couples reduce their exposure to plastics by making changes in their personal care products, food, and even clothes. It also expands into a broader investigation of plastic’s impact across industries, communities, and future generations.

“We don’t have to wait for manufacturers to make safer products. We can choose better products that protect our health,” Swan told Tudum.

Now, Swan and her team are also planning a bigger and more structured scientific study based on what they learned from The Plastic Detox. And perhaps another documentary could follow this, revealing even more eye-opening details. Much like The Plastic Detox, Netflix has several such documentaries that put focus on such concerns.

As debatable as the use of plastic, another element called Artificial Intelligence has people equally confused, which is explored in Netflix’s new documentary, The AI Doc.

What is Netflix’s The AI Doc?

The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist is made by Daniel Roher, who was as confused about AI as many others, and decides to explore the future of artificial intelligence before the birth of his child. In search of answers about the kind of world he will be bringing his child into, Roher interviews several AI experts, examining both the promises and risks of the technology.

Rather than taking sides, the documentary offers a closer look at how the world must deal with AI responsibly to ensure a safer future. Instead of optimists and pessimists, it calls for “apocaloptimists” which is described as someone who can acknowledge both the benefits and the dangers of AI and look for a balance. This investigative documentary is intriguing, eye-opening, and a must-watch in 2026, much like The Plastic Detox.
