But what is special about The Mentalist is its well-balanced mix of procedural mystery with an overarching revenge plot, and focus on human psychology with a charismatic lead that adds the cherry on top.

No, Netflix does not have The Mentalist for its USA subscribers; however, the streamer has it for other territories like Canada, the UK, Australia, Latin America, India, and so on. For American viewers, the series is available to stream on Hulu and Max. The Mentalist, which ran on CBS from 2008 to 2015, became a worldwide sensation because of the lead's charm and the show's overall mystery.

The show centers on Patrick Jane (Simon Baker), a once-famous psychic who came clean about being a phony after the elusive serial k***** known as "Red John" k***** his wife and kid. He becomes a consultant with the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in an attempt to exact retribution. Despite having no official police training, his experience as a mentalist has given him unmatched abilities in hypnosis, persuasion, and observation, which he utilizes to solve cases while surreptitiously pursuing the man who ruined his life.

The show also examines how Jane and Lisbon's relationship changes over time, going from a confrontational professional dynamic to one with romantic undertones.

Simon Baker was the highlight of The Mentalist

It is a fact that without Simon Baker, there is no The Mentalist, and his several accolades for his performance only bolster that notion. Simon Baker's 2009 Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series further cemented The Mentalist's successful television run.
