For years, Gilmore Girls has been one of the most popular comfort-watch series on streaming, introducing new audiences to the fast-talking mother-daughter duo of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, while giving longtime fans endless reasons to revisit Stars Hollow. However, with recent speculation about the show's streaming future, many viewers are wondering if its time on Netflix is ending. Additionally, with changes on the horizon, viewers may be wondering where Lorelai and Rory's story will stream next.

Whether or not fans will have to bid goodbye to Stars Hollow depends on the next streaming grounds it will land on, or if it even will.

After years of calling Netflix home, Gilmore Girls is preparing to leave the streaming platform on July 1, 2026. The beloved dramedy, which follows Lorelai and Rory Gilmore's lives in Stars Hollow, has been a favorite among subscribers for more than a decade. With its Netflix run coming to an end, fans can rely on Hulu and Disney+.

The show can also be enjoyed via Prime Video with a purchase of $25 per season. Meanwhile, Hulu and Disney+ offer few different subscription plans for viewers in the United States. Hulu has subscription plans with and without advertisements and bundle options with Disney+ and ESPN+ as well. As standalones, they start at $11.99 a month for both platforms.

Since December 2024, the whole OG seven-season series has been available on Hulu thanks to a licensing deal. Even though Netflix has not announced an official removal notice at this point, a renewal or extension is still possible. If the original series does depart, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will likely stay on the platform because it was made as a Netflix original, so fans will lose the original run but possibly not the revival.

Of course, the show's enduring popularity goes far beyond where it happens to be streaming.

What makes Gilmore Girls such a beloved show?

Gilmore Girls is a TV show about the lives of Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter, Rory, in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Lorelai is a young mother who is building an independent life and raising her daughter, Rory, all alone. The series delves into their odd closeness, fast-talking chats, shared interests, and unwavering support for each other.

In Rory's case, fans can see her education, romances, and maturation process. In doing so, they also get introduced to the unique people living in Stars Hollow and the intricate relationships within the Gilmore family. This seven-season show, which is a combination of comedy, drama, and romance, tells an inter-generational story of family and friendship.

Although Gilmore Girls will be leaving Netflix, fans will not be totally left without the beloved series. Hulu gets the original seven-season run, Netflix gets the revival, so fans will have ways to continue to stay connected to Lorelai and Rory’s story. The show’s longevity is a testament to the charm, humor, and heartwarming relationships that have kept audiences coming back to Stars Hollow for over two decades.
