The roaring 1920s were not just about jazz and flapper dresses; they had helmed cinema’s most dramatic clamor yet, with the talkies paving their way into daylight. Netflix, being the modern-day titan of its own radicalisation, often captures such epochal shifts in storytelling.

Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie's Babylon dramatizes exactly this noisy upheaval. But whether the streamer has embodied this cinematic upheaval or not remains the more revolutionary question.

Ever wondered if Hollywood’s wildest party crashed Netflix’s streaming roster? The talkies might need a little tapping to check if they are still mum on that front.

Does Netflix tell the tale of Babylon in 2025?

Despite the possibility, Babylon is not streaming on Netflix as of December 2025. The film remains conspicuously absent from the platform’s US catalog.

Instead, Paramount+ has held rights in the streaming markets. Otherwise, viewers must resort to rental or purchase options on Amazon Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home to entertain their home-viewing.

Babylon’s reception landed somewhere between applause and raised eyebrows. Critics have awarded it a middling 57 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, which reflects a mixture of admiration and skepticism.

Many found the nearly three-hour runtime and sprawling narrative excessive, if not exhausting. Praise was, however, undeniably centered on Damien Chazelle’s bold direction, the film’s lavish production design, and standout performances by Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie.

Despite Netflix's habit of turning the lights away from Margot Robbie's blockbusters, she and Brad Pitt definitely lit up Babylon.

The tale of Babylon

Babylon, directed by Damien Chazelle, dived headfirst into the chaotic birth of Hollywood’s talkies era. Brad Pitt embodied Jack Conrad, a fading star struggling to keep pace with evolving tastes, while Margot Robbie delivered a brash, ambitious Nellie LaRoy.

The movie was filmed predominantly in California with a sizable $80 million budget, as the movie assembled a star-studded cast to showcase Hollywood’s excesses and ambitions. Robbie even expressed her thrill over acting alongside Pitt.

"That was a wonderful gift", the actress told Entertainment Tonight in 2022. Premiering in late 2022, Babylon’s sweeping narrative aimed high and audaciously, regardless of success.

The film’s vivid portrayal of Hollywood’s tumultuous past makes it well worth the hunt. Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie’s exceptional performances, combined with Damien Chazelle’s unapologetic storytelling, ensure Babylon remains a captivating, if contentious, entry in cinema’s ongoing dialogue with its own history.
