Netflix’s new Indonesian drama, The Elixir, also known as Abadi Nan Jaya, weaves a story full of intrigue, secrets, and complex relationships. Ardit Erwandha (The East) and Claresta Taufan (On Your Lap) play Rahman, a police officer, and Ningsih, his partner, respectively. The Elixir, strikingly, comes from an experienced horror filmmaker.

Indonesian filmmaker Kimo Stamboel, celebrated for his mastery of the horror genre, has built an impressive body of work both independently and as part of The Mo Brothers duo with Timo Tjahjanto. His decorated list of credits includes Macabre (2009), Killers (2014), The Queen of Black Magic (2019), Ivanna (2022), and Dancing Village: The Curse Begins (2024).
