Recently, Netflix broadcast Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story, a story that exposes the harrowing reality of a family fractured by manipulative control and the resilient survivors. The four youngest children who suffered under the control of Jodi Hildebrandt and Ruby Franke are finally experiencing a sense of normalcy under the care of their father, Kevin Franke.
Following the arrests in 2023, the minors remained in protective custody until Kevin was granted full legal custody during divorce proceedings in early 2025. While the identities of these younger siblings remain protected for their privacy, their older siblings have begun to share their own journeys, as mentioned by Tudum.
Shari Franke released a powerful memoir in 2025 titled The House of My Mother: A Daughter's Quest for Freedom, documenting her personal search for freedom, while Chad Franke has moved forward with his professional life as a realtor and got married in 2025.
Kevin Franke has shifted his focus toward systemic change by advocating for more rigorous child welfare legislation in Utah. He has actively addressed legislative panels to argue for closing the legal loopholes that previously prevented authorities from intervening in abusive domestic situations.
According to Netflix Tudum, director Skye Borgman (creator of Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story) reflected on the precarious nature of the children's survival before their rescue. She stated that if that young boy had not escaped that day, those kids probably would not be with them today!
The documentary serves as a stark warning about how manipulation can be broadcast to millions without detection.
The current status of the convicted influencers of Evil Influencer
Both Jodi Hildebrandt and Ruby Franke are currently serving their sentences at the Utah State Correctional Facility in Salt Lake City. Each woman received four consecutive terms of one to fifteen years after pleading guilty to multiple counts of aggravated child ab---.
Although they reside in the same prison, they are housed in separate sections to prevent further collusion or influence. Their first opportunity for parole is not scheduled until December 2026, ensuring they remain away from the public eye for several years.
