Netflix seems to have some inexplicable affinity for Harlan Coben adaptations. Most of the time, their collaborations have hit the mark, which is why the streamer's library has 13 thrillers based on the renowned author's works. However, it is the most recent one that has worked wonders for the streamer. With 24 million views in only four days following its June 18 release, I Will Find You was Netflix's biggest new series debut of 2026.

The popularity of the show has far outlasted its record-breaking premiere, leaving many craving for more. But the question here is, will there be a second season of the Netflix thriller?

Will there be a season 2 of I Will Find You?

To be very clear, the update on the renewal status of the Netflix series does not look very promising. Much to the dismay of those who are looking forward to a new season of Harlan Coben's I Will Find You, there will not be a second season, or at least that is what Coben said in his June 18 interview with TV Insider.

“Probably not,” he stated clearly.

“Whenever I do [a show]—I think this is my 13th series with Netflix—it’s always with the intention of never writing these characters again. It’s all out on the table,” he explained.

In the interview with TV Insider, he further delved into his stance on not wanting to do a second season. He, in fact, has expressed not wanting to leave viewers hanging for years on end for season after season with no certainty. That is why he intentionally provided every answer by the end of the existing set of episodes.

He alluded, though, that there might be a possibility. Coben clarified that although he does not believe he will be going forward with a second season, he would be interested if he could somehow come up with a plot that would be as excellent as the current one for the audience. Otherwise, he would prefer to write a fresh tale.

Anyhow, the future remains undecided, with no official statement from Netflix. Still, fans would love to see a continuation of the father-son story that won their hearts in season 1.

The plot of I Will Find You season 1

I Will Find You, which is based on Harlan Coben's 2023 book of the same name, centers on David Burroughs (Sam Worthington), a man serving a life sentence for being falsely convicted of his son's m*****. However, David makes an effort to find out the truth about what actually transpired and why he was initially set up after discovering evidence that implies Matthew, his son, is still alive.

Britt Lower, Milo Ventimiglia, Erin Richards, Madeleine Stowe, and many other well-known actors play key roles in Netflix's I Will Find You, in addition to Worthington in the lead role. The widespread demand for more episodes by fans is understandable, but the ending of the first season does not really leave any room for a follow-up. The rest is up to Netflix.
