“I dont want to hear that….” – When Billie Eilish Blatantly Discarded Any Comparison of Hers With Lana Del Rey
Billie Eilish is the reigning queen of pop and most will agree. If you somehow did not become a part of the fandom with Ocean Eyes then there was Bad Guy. Not only do her tracks take little to no time to make it to the top of the charts but they are also very popular worldwide. Now the fact that a Kpop idol is one of her biggest fans is also one of Eilish’s biggest cards but at the end of the day, it’s her voice and talent that get her 11 Grammys.

Billie Eilish recently revealed in an interview that ‘Off to the Races’ by Lana Del Rey is one of her favorite songs:

Eilish is another member of the female artists in the music community that has done us proud. But despite being in 2022, the fact that music comes differently to all of us and that female music artists need not be compared is still a hard pill to swallow for some. Especially in the case of Billie Eilish. While the singer has been compared to many artists, her comparisons to Lana Del Rey are the most discussed about.
Billie Eilish spoke up about being compared to Lana Del Rey
There are more reasons than one for Billie Eilish should not be compared to Lana Del Rey. One being the obvious fact that there are two individuals with separate journeys. And secondly, their music is not even similar. While Eilish likes to produce pop tunes, Lana Del Rey is a genius at producing melodious tones. Additionally, the fact that both of them have birthed widely popular aesthetics is a point of similarity.

Apart from the fact that they are widely popular and have bagged numerous awards is another, the singers do not have much in common. Therefore, Eilish spoke about the comparisons in 2019 and put an end to it once and for all. Speaking to Joe Taysom, the Bad Guy singer said “I don’t want to hear Billie Eilish is the new Lana Del Rey. Do not disrespect Lana like that!”

The Grammy-winning artist further added that a couple of years later, when another artist tries to make a name for themselves, she doesn’t want them to be compared to her. Not just because it would discourage the artist but it would also make her feel like she is being replaced. Her emotions were reciprocated by Lana Del Rey who also admires Eilish and her craft.
