Henry Cavill shared how he drew parallels between the family dynamics shown in The Witcher to that of his own familial bonds

How Henry Cavill’s Dynamic With His Brothers Helped Him Develop a Bond with the Witchers on Set

The theme of family has made its presence felt ever since the very onset of The
Witcher [https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/the-witcher/]’s promotion. Ardent fans of
the fantasy, like Henry Cavill [https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/henry-cavill/],
who have read the saga, can spot this theme throughout the books. It is a core
theme in The Last Wish that expanded later on the parallel journeys of Yennefer
and Ciri. Despite not having any blood ties, all the characters somehow end up
finding real families in the tale.

The way Ciri quickly understood the men at Kaer Morhen to be her big brothers is
a clear example of how these themes rolled through the franchise. However, not
many are aware that Cavill, who brought Geralt to life, equated the show’s
family dynamic with his own family.

HENRY CAVILL DREW PARALLELS BETWEEN THE WITCHER AND HIS OWN LIFE

Two years back, Henry Cavill attended the WitcherCon event hosted by The Witcher
and CD Projekt Red. In a discussion with Josh Horowitz, the British actor made
it clear that when he spoke of family, he was not referring to his biological
brothers but rather those who felt like family. Simply because the family in The
Witcher was not like the usual family where one expects them to stick around all
the time.

Although the characters did not belong to a kinship, they shared a sense of
anxiety about the world changing around them. This sentiment brought the
characters together and turned them into families. The Witcher characters also
had their distinctive backgrounds and conflicting views. Therefore, Cavill
leaned towards likening his on-screen family to his friends rather than his
blood brothers. Apart from that, Henry Cavill also talked about what pushed him
towards landing the role in The Witcher.

He shared his unique theory of destiny, that helped him slip into such an iconic
character like Geralt.

HENRY CAVILL’S UNIQUE TAKE ON HOW DESTINY WORKS

It is a popular opinion that Henry Cavill is the best Geralt The Witcher could
ever feature. His deep love for video games and books, especially fantasy
novels, made him an even perfect fit for the role. When asked by Josh Horowitz
if he believed the role was meant for him, Henry Cavill shared his unique
perspective on destiny. According to the British actor, it is a prerequisite to
unlock various levels for shaping one’s destiny

Therefore, the reason Cavill could clinch the role of Geralt was because he
completed numerous small levels and achievements. Not only did the actor play
his character with finesse, but also infused his inputs to the role, such was
his dedication. Taking all of this into account, one can confidently state that
Henry Cavill was truly meant for this role as he authentically connected with
every facet of the franchise.
