How did the Henry Cavill version of Geralt of Rivia earn and survive in the vast world Netflix's 'The Witcher'

How Did Henry Cavill’s Geralt Earn Money and Then Spend His Fortune on Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’?

In 2019, Netflix took one giant leap into fantasy by bringing Andrzej
Sapkowski’s books to life. Titled The Witcher
[https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/the-witcher/], the series debut pitched itself as
a rival to the HBO juggernaut Game of Thrones. Taking a dark and headfirst
approach into the magical realm of the Northern Kingdom, the series rode itself
largely on the backs of Henry Cavill
[https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/henry-cavill/] as Geralt of Rivia. In the three
seasons that the actor helmed the show, it touched great heights before the last
season’s missteps doomed it to a collision course with critics. Despite its
shortcomings, the story, after all, remains of Geralt and his way through the
continent.

Beyond swordsmanship and magic, the world of The Witcher is far more intricate
for our Geralt. Here is a look at how he traversed in brave steps ahead.

HOW DID HENRY CAVILL’S GERALT BECOME A WITCHER?

Before diving into the world, it is tantamount to be aware of the origins of the
character. In essence, a Witcher is one mutated superhuman who hunts
supernatural beings. The story around which the Netflix series revolves is
Geralt of Rivia, one of the remaining few of his kind and supposedly the
strongest of them all. Famed for his excellent hand at swords, wisdom, and brute
strength, the Henry Cavill version of a Witcher was one who underwent rigorous
training known as The Trial of the Grasses.

Geralt’s mother, Visenna, handed him over at a young age to Vesemir to train him
in the ways of the witchmen. Hoping that her son would have a greater chance of
survival there, he would soon outgrow them by becoming the boldest who ever
lived. Claiming to be as strong as ten men and bearer of white locks owing to
his mutated cells, Geralt is unlike any other. As one who hunts monsters, his
job is precisely that, and in the last three seasons, fans have already
witnessed him dispose of many.

However, to survive on the continent, Geralt needs supplies and there are a few
ways he gets them.

HOW DOES GERALT EARN MONEY?

The simple answer stands that Geralt gets paid to kill monsters. However, in the
long run, being a Witcher is a profession as well as a persona. Providing a safe
travel experience, carrying out tasks, and standing guard are some of the ways a
Witcher finds himself hired and gets paid for in return. At times, he earns
currency, sometimes gold when the ask is simply too big, and at other times, as
per the books, a small fortune. However, in every way, what Geralt makes is
barely enough to set him off rich.

In sharp contrast to what Henry Cavill made from The Witcher
[https://www.netflixjunkie.com/netflix-hollywood-news-from-geralt-to-gold-fifty-million-dollars-worth-henry-cavill-made-more-than-whopping-eleven-million-dollars-over-two-seasons-of-the-witcher/],
in-universe, his payouts stand checked. Usually, the earnings are pretty small
and modest enough to have Geralt live off food and other basic supplies. Being a
monster hunter, he earns only what the troubled can afford. Moreover, at times,
his morals also force him to go out of his way and take on monsters without
asking for anything in exchange. Thus, to carry on his role, he takes to these
contracts at the risk of his life.

Yet, whatever he does earn is rightfully his, which brings us to the next topic,
his spending.

WHAT DOES GERALT SPEND HIS MONEY ON?

At his core, Geralt is a monster hunter. Dealing with the likes of Basiliks,
Nivellens, Nekkers, and Bruxas is no easy feat. In Netflix, Geralt of Rivia
carries a silver sword and wears the Forgotten Wolf armor. And hence, a
significant part of his earnings go into attending and making those. Repairs and
upgrades are part of the journey and something Geralt has to shell out on.
Thereafter, alchemy, enchantments, runes, and potions for his physical
well-being also cost him. Moreover, spending during experiences along the road
is also a factor.

Along the lines are also luxuries, which for Cavill’s Geralt are pretty
laid-back. Alongside food and lodgings, intoxications and wine are something he
deals with. Thereafter, in early episodes, the bulky hero also laid bare his
spending on women. Finally, in terms of travel, the White Wolf usually takes on
foot or a horse. Thus, fodder and attendance to his wild-mannered friends are
also overruns to account for in the long run. Regardless, the ways of Geralt are
plaid, and his ambitions are limitless.

As with every other story, change remains guaranteed. Henry Cavill has already
marked his exit from the show with Netflix’s rushed storyline, also causing a
decline in viewership
[https://www.netflixjunkie.com/netflix-news-the-ups-and-downs-in-viewership-ratings-of-the-witcher-that-even-henry-cavill-could-not-stop/].
With Liam Hemsworth now set to take over the mantle of Geralt of Rivia, the
story may twist going forward. Since the streaming giant has made its
adjustments to the lore, riches may be inbound for Geralt as could be the
dangers. In the meantime, the stage stands set for the two women, Anya
Chalotra’s Yennefer and Freya Allan’s Ciri, to lead the show while the new
Geralt soaks in the limelight.
