Freya Allan Calls ‘The Witcher’ Fans “attack-y”, Following the Infamous Henry Cavill Exit

The past year was a tough one for The Witcher fans and much of that has to do with the departure of Henry Cavill from the franchise. Not only fans but even his co-stars were apprehensive about this shift when a new Geralt was entrusted with the sword of Geralt. However, with time, those concerns have diminished specifically from The Witcher’s stars like Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra, with the former now dubbing the show’s fanbase as a tad bit offensive.

Allan, who seemed to have made peace with the transition, recently aimed at the fanbase, urging them to cut some slack.

With Liam Hemsworth’s arrival as the new Geralt, fans’ concerns have now turned into cold humor and Freya Allan seemed to have noticed it quite well. Hence, in a recent interview with Collider, Allan sided with her new co-star to plea fans for a fair chance. The actress acknowledged that Hemsworth indeed has big shoes to fill. However, she also admitted that such an expectation can only be fulfilled once fans leave their “attack-y” stance and focus on his genuine efforts.

Allan even sympathized with Hemsworth and confessed that she feels “sorry” for him as all he has been trying to do is “bring the heart”. Yet, she was committed to her optimism about what he brings to the plate while she revealed how “excited” she has been to share the screen with Hemsworth. Allan reaffirmed her stance that his new co-star is “lovely” but all fans need to do is “give him the time of the day” so he shines on his own credit beyond the constant comparisons with his predecessor.

Interestingly, this is not the first time in the recent while that Allan vouched for Hemsworth since, in one of her latest interviews, she was remarkably gushing about him. However, during this conversation, she did clarify that despite her excitement at seeing what Hemsworth brings, they will not share the screen long enough for this season.

Liam Hemsworth has two seasons of The Witcher in his playbook, but the fourth one might not highlight the relationship between the new Geralt and Ciri, played by Freya Allan. In her interview with Collider, Allan addressed the journey of Geralt and Ciri in the upcoming season and how it will mostly showcase them on their own paths. The actress acknowledged that although “Geralt’s always going to have a massive weight” on Ciri’s character, this upcoming season will showcase less of the duo since she will be very much deep into her own journey.

She further added that the fourth installment is elemental for Ciri’s chapter as she has to confront many demons. Allegedly, this season will also initiate a personal journey for Ciri as she embarks from youth to womanhood. Hence, there would be a substantial lack of interaction between Geralt and Ciri. However, although the duo’s pairing might lack a lengthy screen presence, Allan’s confidence in Hemsworth’s depiction makes a compelling case for fans to make room for his credibility, even if that takes some time.
