At the center of Finding Her Edge is Madelyn Keys, who stars as Adriana Russo, a determined 17-year-old figure skater from a once-prestigious but financially struggling skating family. Adriana’s journey is complex: while she trains with her new ice dance partner Brayden Elliot to compete at the World Championships, she still harbors feelings for her former partner and first love, Freddie O’Connell.

Cale Ambrozic plays Brayden, the confident and focused new partner whose presence challenges Adriana both on and off the ice. Meanwhile Olly Atkins portrays Freddie, whose return brings emotional tension and history into Adriana’s life. Supporting them are Alexandra Beaton and Alice Malakhov as Adriana’s sisters Elise and Maria Russo, respectively, each with her own ambitions and pressures.

While the skating provides the visual thrill, the creative team behind the show has been clear: Finding Her Edge is about much more than the sport itself. In recent interviews, the people shaping the series have emphasized its focus.

Speaking to Teen Vogue, Finding Her Edge executive producer and showrunner Jeff Norton explained that skating is simply the backdrop for a much deeper narrative.

“For me, this isn’t actually a show about skating,” he explains. “It’s about a group of people who find themselves at a crossroads in their lives and have to navigate through the messiness of life: first loves, true loves, duty, family and passion as the drama plays out against the exciting world of figure skating.”

Lead actress Madelyn Keys echoed this sentiment, praising the writing team for creating flawed characters that you still want to root for, even for viewers who might never have stepped onto ice skates. 

“I also genuinely believe you can tell when actors are having fun, and that feeling transfers through the screen to the audience.” Madelyn Keys said.

As the premiere approaches, audiences can start contemplating which alliances and romances they will be rooting for, and what Finding Her Edge means to them personally.
