Over the past few days, a new claim has been making the rounds, with people online saying that if they type "Byler kiss" into the Netflix app, the platform directs them to the sci-fi show, almost as if it is hinting at something.

The idea caught on quickly, sparking plenty of excitement and confusion across social media; however, on a closer look, does the assertion hold up? If the answer turns out to be positive, Mileven shippers might actually have something big to worry about.

Checking if Netflix’s search really hints at Byler moments

An X handle by the username @miwiseven spoilers on December 11 posted a screen recording showing themselves typing “byler kiss” on the Netflix app. For them, the platform’s interface immediately showed the Stranger Things vault. On personal investigation of the streaming giant’s application, this action turned out to be true.

Additionally, when @miwiseven searched for “mike and will endgame” on the Netflix app, the platform still guided them to Stranger Things’ catalog. Our testing for this as well ended in positive results. Well, if this is just a random glitch, then Mileven shippers will thank their lucky stars; otherwise, they will have some serious complaints for the makers.

Netflix’s app, moreover, suggests Stranger Things before Heartstopper when “boys kissing” is typed in the search bar. Suggesting the show before an LGBTQ+ young adult franchise makes even less sense. So far, notably, the Duffer Brothers have not suggested any concrete exploration of Byler. So, only time will tell what this all means.
