Every ‘One Piece’ Arc the Netflix Live-Action Will Adapt for Season 2

March marks the streaming return of Netflix’s live-action One Piece Season 2 and, for US fans, a special theatrical rollout that turns what used to be couch viewing into a communal event. The Straw Hats are not just sailing back onto our screens, they are storming multiplexes. And this time, the horizon is bigger, stranger, and far more dangerous.
Season 2 follows Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates as they leave the East Blue behind and chart a course into the Grand Line in pursuit of the legendary treasure, the One Piece. The sea grows harsher. The enemies grow smarter. The world expands.
But for manga readers who have memorized chapter numbers and anime episode titles, the real anticipation lies elsewhere: which arcs from Eiichiro Oda’s source material will define this next chapter?

The threshold of the Grand Line in One Piece Season 2
Netflix's One Piece Season 2 will adapt five consecutive arcs from Eiichiro Oda’s original manga, effectively bridging the end of the East Blue Saga into the opening stretch of the Alabasta Saga. This is where the series stops feeling episodic and starts feeling epic, where bounty posters turn into political conspiracies and the world government begins watching Luffy with genuine concern.
The first stop is the Loguetown Arc (Episodes 45, 48-53): The town where Gol D. Roger was executed. In the manga and anime, Luffy’s near-execution at the same platform is one of Oda’s most poetic full-circle moments. Captain Smoker, armed with the powers of the Moku Moku no Mi, makes his imposing debut here, establishing himself as a relentless Marine presence.
Crucially, Season 1 of the live action ended with Luffy receiving his first bounty and a deliberate tease of Smoker burning the wanted poster. Loguetown is the narrative hinge between East Blue innocence and Grand Line consequence, and Season 2 is positioned to open that door wide.
And once that door opens, the sea does not get calmer, it gets stranger.
Reverse Mountain Arc (Episodes 61-63)
This is the literal entry into the Grand Line. The Straw Hats ascend Reverse Mountain and encounter Laboon, the colossal whale waiting decades for a pirate crew that promised to return. It is absurd on paper, pirates crashing into a whale but emotionally devastating in execution. This arc reinforces one of the series’ foundational themes: promises are sacred, even in a lawless world.
Whiskey Peak Arc (Episodes 64-67)
The crew’s first island in the Grand Line masquerades as a celebration in their honor, only to reveal itself as a Baroque Works trap. Here we’re introduced to Princess Vivi and the shadowy criminal syndicate manipulating kingdoms from behind the scenes. Tonally, this arc shifts the story from adventurous piracy to geopolitical intrigue, expanding the scope of the series dramatically.
Little Garden Arc (Episodes 70-77)
Dinosaurs roam freely. Two giants, Dorry and Brogy, have been dueling for a century over a forgotten dispute. Meanwhile, Baroque Works agents Mr. 3 and Miss Goldenweek escalate the danger. Little Garden is chaotic, prehistoric, and mythic, a reminder that the Grand Line operates on rules entirely its own.
Drum Island Arc (Episodes 78-91)
Snow-covered tragedy defines Drum Island. The Straw Hats search desperately for a doctor and ultimately meet Tony Tony Chopper, the reindeer who consumed the Human-Human Fruit. Under the sharp mentorship of Dr. Kureha, Chopper’s backstory delivers one of the series’ earliest emotional crescendos. If adapted faithfully, this arc could be the emotional centerpiece of Season 2.Beyond the narrative arcs, Season 2 significantly expands its cast with verified additions.
Callum Kerr joins as Smoker, bringing physical intensity to the Marine captain. Julia Rehwald steps in as Tashigi, Smoker’s sword-wielding subordinate. Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefertari Cobra and Charithra Chandran portrays Miss Wednesday (Vivi’s undercover alias), while Joe Manganiello appears as Mr. 0, better known to fans as Crocodile. Lera Abova takes on Miss All Sunday (Nico Robin). David Dastmalchian joins as Mr. 3, with additional Baroque Works agents and supporting players rounding out the expanding world.

One Piece Season 2 is the moment One Piece transforms from a scrappy pirate adventure into a sprawling saga. As Netflix plans to turn the global premiere into a full blown fan event, the Grand Line in Season 2 changes everything.
