2026 has been a dramatic year for Netflix. The streamer came within a whisker of a corporate marriage with Warner Bros., only to leave the altar at the closing moments. It also said goodbye to Stranger Things, one of its biggest original series, and the Upside Down finally closed for business. Lesser platforms might have retreated to a darkened room with a stiff drink, but Netflix has carried on.
November makes the case in full, with a lineup of new releases, one even being highlighted as an Oscar front runner.
Black Doves Season 2

Starting strong, Black Doves returns on Nov 5 with all six episodes released at once. Keira Knightley’s Helen is still feeding her nation’s secrets to the covert Black Doves organization, a hobby that grows somewhat awkward when her husband, Wallace, is preparing to become Prime Minister.

Sam faces a deadly ultimatum, and an attack on Mrs. Reed drags both of them into a desperate hunt for answers, with Netflix promising higher stakes, tested loyalties and trust shattered along the way.
Possible Love
Lee Chang-dong has spent eight years away from the camera, and Possible Love arrives on Netflix on Nov 6 as the patient return of a director who clearly sees no virtue in hurrying. The film follows the intertwined lives of two married couples whose outlooks could scarcely be more different, leaving a very gruesome setup for the dinner table. Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung and Cho Yeo-jeong lead the ensemble.
It comes with credentials. Burning was the last word from its director, and Possible Love reached Venice and Toronto, then cinemas, before settling onto the streaming queue, from where it is expected to become Netflix's biggest bet at the Oscars.
For a story about love and its conditions, the question of whether the feeling is possible at all seems a fair place to begin.
Allen
Ludo Studio, the Australian outfit behind Bluey, is trading the Heeler backyard for outer space with Allen, its first live-action feature, landing on Netflix on Nov 12. The premise is a childhood friendship with an alien that went the way of most childhood friendships and simply stopped. Petey, played by T.J. Power, spent two decades without a word from his extraterrestrial best friend, until he yells at the sky and the sky, unusually, answers.

A still from Allen
According to the official synopsis, Allen vanished without a goodbye and returns with a secret big enough to change the world, which leaves Petey with the unwelcome task of finally growing up to help save it.
Daley Pearson and Jeffrey Walker co-direct from a screenplay by Pearson and Sophie Miller, with Charlotte Nicdao, Josh Helman, Emily Barclay and Benedict Hardie rounding out the cast. The teaser borrows the look of the opening titles of Ridley Scott’s Alien, before reshuffling to spell out Alien, setting the benchmark for the kind of humor the movie entails.
Cunk on Cinema
Philomena Cunk has already tried to make sense of life, Britain and the planet itself, with results that suggest the planet is still waiting for an explanation. Cunk on Cinema premieres on Netflix on Nov 15, and this time Diane Morgan’s gloriously unqualified presenter turns her attention to the movies. Billed as her most glamorous series to date, it finds her in lumpy seats with stale popcorn, asking where cinema came from, why it exists, and what it wants- questions that film scholars have spent careers failing to settle and that Cunk will settle in under half an hour.

The three-part series, from Charlie Brooker and Morgan, runs from the invention of the camera and the French New Wave through CGI to the future of AI. Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Bay are among the guests, presumably to supply the straight faces. The series airs on BBC iPlayer and BBC Two, and on Netflix everywhere outside the UK and Ireland, which gives the rest of the world its own front-row seat to the misinformation.
The Altruists
The Altruists arrives on Netflix on Nov 19 with the story of Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison, two hyper-intelligent young idealists who set out to remake the global financial system overnight and managed to remake a rather large number of balance sheets instead. The eight-episode limited series charts the meteoric rise and spectacular collapse of FTX, a tale in which the road to ruin was paved with good intentions and a great deal of other people’s money.
Anthony Boyle plays Bankman-Fried, with Julia Garner as Ellison, making for a commendable cast Alex Lawther, Karan Soni, Matt Rife, Madison Hu and Naomi Okada fill out the ensemble, and the series comes from Graham Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt, the showrunners.
Peter Berg’s The Mosquito Bowl
Peter Berg, a director with a long record of putting American servicemen on screen, turns to the Second World W** with The Mosquito Bowl, which reaches Netflix on Nov 25 after a brief run in select theaters. The film is based on Buzz Bissinger’s book, and its premise is among the more improbable in the genre: after Pearl Harbor, four college football stars enlist in the U.S. Marines, and the sport that made them famous follows them into the war. Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson, and Tom Francis play the four.

Berg co-wrote the screenplay with Mark L. Smith, and Pat McAfee appears in the supporting cast, with Berg himself taking a role. The release lands on Thanksgiving Eve, which makes a story about football and sacrifice the evening’s most dutiful companion to the turkey.
NFL Netflix Gameday: Thanksgiving Eve
Netflix has spent the year proving that its ambitions extend well beyond the couch, and NFL Netflix Gameday: Thanksgiving Eve, on Nov 25, is the latest evidence. The Green Bay Packers travel to Los Angeles to face the Rams in a live game on the night before Thanksgiving. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET, an hour that gives the cook a fighting chance of sitting down before the second quarter.

The game streams live and is included in every Netflix plan. Halftime belongs to U2, who arrive in the middle of their 50th anniversary as a band.
The Hunting Wives
Maple Brook, Texas, is clearly not a town where anyone leaves a grudge unattended, which is why The Hunting Wives returns on Thanksgiving Day, Nov 26. Malin Akerman’s Margo and Brittany Snow’s Sophie return as the two women at the center of it, and the question hanging over eight new episodes is whether they are the hunters or the hunted.

The guest list is considerable. John Stamos, Cam Gigandet, Kim Matula and Dale Dickey join the cast, and WNBA star Angel Reese makes her acting debut, while Dermot Mulroney returns as Jed. Rebecca Cutter again serves as creator and showrunner, working from May Cobb’s novel, and Netflix has already renewed the series for a third season, which suggests that Maple Brook’s residents are not expected to settle their differences any time soon.
Between spies in London, a Korean auteur’s return, an alien with a secret, a mockumentary on cinema, a crypto collapse, a wartime football story, a U2 halftime show and a Texas town that never forgets, November offers something for every mood and nearly every level of moral flexibility.
