Just as the title suggests, Defying Destiny shows how a determined heart cannot be held back. And bringing this powerful story to life is an equally talented cast. As more people tune in to Netflix to watch Maria’s story, here is a closer look at the cast behind Defying Destiny.

Defying Destiny, featuring 64 episodes, is anchored by a talented cast including Marggy Selene Valdiris (The Big Cigar), Paola González (Bumpin Uglies), Karent Hinestroza (Choco, Crab Trap, El Paseo), and Daniel Toro (Memoria). Carlos Carvajal, Valeria Caicedo, Paola Moreno, and Valdiris López are also part of the cast.

Defying Destiny tells the story of a young woman, Maria, whose dream of becoming a teacher is stopped due to a teen pregnancy. Rather than letting it stop her, the story shows how Maria chooses to fight for her ambitions and for women’s rights. It also follows Fancy and Tulia, two women with hopes of building stable, fulfilling lives of their own.
