Dan Brown has always understood that a city can be more than a setting. In The Da Vinci Code, Paris became a cryptographic playground, while Angels & Demons turned Rome into a maze of symbols, faith and forbidden history. Now, Prague is preparing for another Langdon mystery, as Netflix gets ready to bring The Secret of Secrets to life.

The cameras are finally moving toward one of Brown’s most atmospheric literary landscapes, and this time the puzzle is built around consciousness, ancient mythology and a missing scientist.

According to The Prague Reporter, production on Netflix’s adaptation is set to begin imminently in Prague, with filming activity already scheduled around the historic Old Town area. The report, published August 13, says production preparations were underway ahead of the shoot, while previous production information placed filming from late August 2026 through March 2027. 

The production, as per The Prague Reporter, will also travel to New York City, giving the series the kind of international footprint that has become synonymous with Brown’s Langdon stories. Morgan Spector is taking over the role of Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon, while Carlton Cuse, known for Lost and Locke & Key, serves as showrunner and co-creator alongside Brown. Netflix has also confirmed Rebecca Hall as Katherine Solomon, with Cherry Jones, Corey Stoll, Rob Delaney and Abbey Lee among the supporting cast.

For Brown devotees, Prague, not to be confused by the Pogues is, particularly significant because the city is not merely a production location. It is woven into the DNA of the novel itself.

The Secret of Secrets begins with Langdon traveling to Prague to attend a lecture by Katherine Solomon, a prominent noetic scientist with whom he has recently entered a romantic relationship. Her forthcoming book contains potentially revolutionary discoveries about human consciousness, threatening ideas that have remained embedded in centuries of scientific and philosophical thinking. Then, in classic Brown fashion, a brutal m***** detonates the story.

Katherine disappears, her manuscript vanishes and Langdon suddenly finds himself being hunted. 

The mystery eventually stretches beyond Prague into London and New York, mixing futuristic science with mystical lore and the city's ancient mythology. That combination gives the adaptation a distinctly different flavor from Langdon's earlier adventures. Netflix has described the series as an evolution for the character, particularly because Katherine represents Langdon's first serious love interest.

Cuse has also argued that Brown's densely layered stories are better suited to an eight-hour television format than a two-hour movie, potentially giving the adaptation room to let the codes, history and philosophical ideas breathe. There is still no confirmed Netflix release date.

With production expected to continue into March 2027, a late-2027 debut remains possible, although 2028 appears to be the more realistic window. For now, the next Langdon puzzle is taking shape among Prague's spires, streets and shadows.
