Director Nia DaCosta has provided a tantalizing glimpse into the final chapter of the modern rage-virus trilogy, which was recently greenlit for production. While DaCosta is at the helm of the second installment, The Bone Temple, Alex Garland is reportedly already deep into writing the script for the third and final film.
Danny Boyle is expected to return to the director's chair to close out the saga he started in 2002. Although DaCosta remained tight-lipped about the specific plot points of the finale, she teased that the narrative trajectory suggests a high-stakes conclusion to the journey of Spike and the survival of the mainland.
She promised it is “going to be really f------ good,” in an interview with Empire. DaCosta has already hinted at the massive scale of what comes next, teasing that the upcoming final chapter of the trilogy is next level.
In the interview with the UK film magazine, Empire, she also shared her "surreal" experience bringing Cillian Murphy back to the franchise.
While Murphy makes his long-awaited return in The Bone Temple after a 24-year absence from the franchise, Danny Boyle has explicitly stated that Jim will play a much more central role in the third film.
After Cillian Murphy's comebacks, the strong creative partnership has fast-tracked the continuation of this terrifying saga. And now fans are moving closer to the long-awaited conclusion of the series.
