December arrives with its familiar balance of twinkling lights, packed markets, and late-night plans built around warm food and colder weather. As the month unfolds, a quiet shift settles over the days, adding a touch of calm to the usual rush.

Streets glow brighter, celebrations grow louder, and every corner seems to echo a little more warmth than usual. With that same festive spirit spilling into living rooms, screens become an easy escape into cozy stories and winter magic.

This year, that holiday energy has taken over Netflix, sending snowy romances, jolly thrillers, and family favourites straight into the Top 10.

Netflix’s trending lineup fills up with Christmas favorites

Netflix’s Global Top 10 is glowing with festive charm as Christmas and animated family favorites claim dominant positions on the chart. My Secret Santa leads the merry pack, followed closely by Jingle Bell Heist at number 2 and Champagne Problems at number 4. Animated hits such as In Your Dreams and Rio take the number 6 and 7 spots on the chart, while Ferdinand remains strong at number 10.

The ranking, made available by Netflix’s Tudum, is for the week of December 1 to 7, suggesting that as soon as the gleeful month arrived, viewers opted for titles with Yule themes and films they could watch with their loved ones.

These titles are enjoying a place in Netflix’s Global Top 10 ranking not because of a seasonal surge but due to pure content appeal, include the history-making K-Pop Demon Hunters at number 3, George Clooney's Jay Kelly at number 5, the Harrison Ford starrer The Call of the Wild at number 8, and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein at number 9. The Call of the Wild, being on the list, notably deserves special attention.

It turns out that the veteran Hollywood star’s forgotten survival thriller has redeemed itself on streaming five years after its release.

What is The Call of the Wild about?

The Call of the Wild (2020) follows a dog named Buck who is stolen from his California home during the Klondike Gold Rush and forced into a rugged new life as a sled dog in the Yukon. As Buck learns to survive the wilderness, he forms a powerful bond with prospector John Thornton and gradually embraces his instincts.

Although the movie is not a typical Christmas film, its snowy setting, themes of courage and loyalty, and heartfelt human–animal connection make it a comforting watch. That should explain why it is now ranking so well on Netflix.
