Throughout his career, the Oscar-winning actor, Will Smith, has given several
blockbuster films. The 2007 film, I Am Legend, is one of them. A lot of fans
believe that the movie is underrated and did not quite receive the appreciation
it deserved. However, with the sequel of the film coming up, the screenwriter,
Akiva Goldsman, revealed a crucial detail about it.

The first film is based on a novel of the same name by Richard Matheson and it
saw the death of Smith’s character in the end. However, in I Am Legend 2, the
screenwriter has decided to go ahead with an alternative ending rather than
moving forward with the previous one. In an interview with Deadline, Goldsman
revealed

the sequel would not follow the death of Dr. Robert Neville. Instead, it would
be closer to the original source, where Neville survived the encounter with the
Darkseekers.



In the original source, after surviving the outbreak, Neville left Manhattan
with Anna and Ethan and started his search for the survivor’s colony. But the
first movie saw a different ending because of Neville’s death. Though very few
details are known about I Am Legend 2, fans are extremely excited to see their
favorite film coming back.
