Released on April 24, Apex has emerged as one of Netflix's biggest action success stories of 2026. The survival thriller has amassed more than 110 million views in its first five weeks, thanks to an explosive opening that saw it pull in 38 million views in Week 1 and an even stronger 40 million views in Week 2. With Netflix tracking performance over a 91-day window, the film still has weeks left to grow its audience.
More importantly, it now sits within touching distance of Damsel's 138 million views, the current gateway to Netflix's all-time Top 10 movies list.

Directed by Baltasar Kormákur, the filmmaker behind survival thrillers such as Everest, Beast, and Adrift, Apex follows a deadly cat-and-mouse battle in the Australian outback as a grieving adventurer finds herself hunted by a relentless stalker. Starring Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton, the film has earned a respectable 66% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, although its 44% audience rating has raised a few eyebrows. Even so, viewers continue to flock to the thriller, keeping its remarkable march toward Netflix history very much alive.
But Apex isn't Charlize Theron's final swing of 2026, with Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey still on the horizon.
Charlize Theron set to star in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey
Scheduled to hit theatres on July 17, 2026, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey will see Charlize Theron trade the Australian outback of Apex for the world of Greek mythology. Serving as Nolan's highly anticipated follow-up to his Oscar-winning blockbuster Oppenheimer, the epic adventure reportedly carries a massive $250 million budget and adapts Homer's legendary tale of Odysseus as he embarks on a perilous 10-year journey home following the fall of Troy, encountering monsters, gods, and countless dangers along the way.

Theron is joined by an all-star ensemble led by Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, and Lupita Nyong'o. The film is also set to make cinematic history as the first feature ever shot entirely on IMAX 70mm cameras, with Nolan utilizing newly developed technology to bring his most ambitious vision yet to the big screen. With its mythological scale, groundbreaking production, and powerhouse cast, The Odyssey is already shaping up to be one of 2026's biggest cinematic events.
And now, with over 110 million views already in the bag, Apex's hunt for a place among Netflix's all-time biggest hits is far from over.
