The shy Ravenclaw girl, barely 16 at the time, first stepped into the wizarding world in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), quietly igniting one of the franchise’s earliest sparks of teenage romance with Harry Potter. Years later, while speaking about her latest role as Lady Araminta Gun in Bridgerton Season 4, the Scottish actress Katie Leung reflected on those Harry Potter days, admitting she had been very young and easily influenced by what people would say about her, adding that she would not want to return to that chapter of her life.
“I was so young at the time, and I was so easily influenced by what people would say about me because I didn’t know who I was. So I’ve come into ‘Bridgerton’ having a really healthy focus on the work. I’m so glad I’m here. I would not want to go back to that time." Leung told Entertainment Tonight. However, the actress clarified that her reflection was not rooted in any negative experience, explaining that it simply came from growing to understand herself better.
She further added, "Not because I had a bad time or anything, but it’s just really nice when you know who you are, and I’m still figuring that out, but I’m a bit closer.” Following her time in the wizarding world, the actress appeared in projects like the BBC series One Child, ITV’s Strangers, Amazon Prime’s The Peripheral, the BBC drama Annika, and even lent her voice to Caitlyn Kiramman in Netflix’s animated hit Arcane.
Meanwhile, as Harry Potter remained one of the most celebrated film franchises in pop culture, Bridgerton is not far behind in commanding global attention. Here is a closer look at season 4 and the character of Lady Araminta Gun.
