A little more than a month after the streamer returned to full-fledged productions following the Hollywood strikes, it has taken active pursuit of embarking on new titles. In a post on X, Netflix announced its latest line-up featuring Brian Cox, Fiona Shaw, Jodie Whittaker, and Bill Nighy in an animated adaptation of the same name as a children’s book series, That Christmas by Richard Curtis. Additionally, it has Cox voicing Santa Claus in a story of a “Christmas that definitely doesn’t go according to plan!”
Labeling the tale as “heartwarming”, How to Train Your Dragon’s Simon Otto remains at the directorial helm as the animation takes viewers across the plot of Santa making a mistake. The veteran actor from Succession will get company from Lolly Adefope, Alex MacQueen, Katherine Parkinson, and a bevy of other voice actors. Lifting its story from the trilogy of books, the Christmas flick joins the likes of Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, Nimona, and A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon as Netflix’s animated endeavors.
In the meantime, many of its famed live-action adaptations and originals have also received promising updates.
