With the awards season going on, the Emancipation actor appeared at The
African-American Film Critics Association Awards 2023. The association reviews
cinema at large and emphasizes films that include the Black experience.
Recently, Will Smith appeared in a biographical drama, Emancipation. The film
follows the life of an imprisoned slave named Peter. While the actor and his
film got recognition at the AAFCA Awards, his acceptance speech made the
attendees laugh and emotional as well. In his speech, he also talked about Apple
being supportive because of the most beautiful reason.

Apple is one of the biggest companies in the market of telecommunication. The
$2067 Billion worth company played an important role in telling the story of the
imprisoned slave in Emancipation. Therefore, when the film got recognition at
the AAFCA, Smith did not forget to mention it in his acceptance speech for the

Though the film’s budget was a little high, Apple never flinched or backed down.
The 54-year-old actor praised the company and said this was the first time he
heard the studio supporting a film like this. The reason, as Apple told the
actor, was that they believed the story was more important than the budget. As
Smith revealed the reason for thanking the company, the audience applauded and
appreciated it.
