Netflix’s Adolescence leads the race ahead of the BAFTA TV Award
Netflix's Adolescence is still dominating the awards season, this time with the British Academy of Film and Television Awards, which is once again celebrating excellence in TV. There are 14 Netflix series nominated, including 12 nominations for Adolescence, the most of any show this year. Since its release, the show has dominated awards shows from the Golden Globes to the Emmys with leading positions. Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne’s series won 11 nominations in the TV and Craft awards overall.
Additionally, the hit Netflix show dominated UK and USA TV and scooped up nine Emmys last September. It has also gained a ton of nominations and wins in several other award shows and categories. These include awards like the Actors' awards, Critics’ Choice awards, Independent Spirit awards, and Golden Globes. It also won at the Royal Television Society Program Awards and Broadcasting Press Guild Awards. Graham is nominated for Leading Actor.
The series's star, Owen Cooper, will go up against co-star Ashley Walters in the supporting actor category. Other nominated cast members are Graham, Christine Tremarco, and Erin Doherty. Furthermore, the limited series already had two wins at the BAFTA TV Craft Awards, one for director Philip Barantini and one for the sound team, with photography, lighting, and casting in queue.
Beyond its awards success, Adolescence has also drawn widespread attention for the disturbing themes and real-world fears at the center of its story.
What is Adolescence about?
Adolescence (2025) is an acclaimed British crime drama series by Netflix. The four-part story follows the harrowing aftermath when 13-year-old Jamie Miller (portrayed by Owen Cooper) is arrested for m******** a classmate. With all parts shot in single takes, one-shot style, it explores the impact of online radicalization and the heartbreak of an ordinary family dealing with a nightmare. It has been inspired by a real-life story.
“We could have made a drama about gangs and knife crime, or about a kid whose mother is an alcoholic or whose father is a violent abuser,” said Stephen Graham as per Tudum.

“Instead, we wanted you to look at this family and think, ‘My God. This could be happening to us!’ And what’s happening here is an ordinary family’s worst nightmare,” he added, bringing to light the somewhat interactive nature of the show.
Meanwhile, with Adolescence on a strong awards-season run, the 2026 BAFTA TV Awards could be another big moment for the Netflix drama. From its compelling storytelling to its acclaimed performances, the series has also dominated conversation all year. Now all that remains is to see if Adolescence can turn its impressive list of nominations into another dominating night on the awards stage.
