Duffer Brothers have made their approach to the Stranger Things spin-off very clear, and they are not fooling around with this one, declaring on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that they are aiming to deliver the perfect version of this spin-off. For a long time, a spin-off to the Hawkins saga has been in limbo, and the show’s creators, Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, have been toying with several ideas to base the new story on. Till now, there is no solid piece of information on the development of the project, which is taking its sweet time to reach production.
In a recent interview, the Duffer Brothers have teased just a nibble from the impending spin-off.

Josh Horowitz, the presenter of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, met with the Duffer brothers during a recent live recording in Los Angeles to discuss the show's legacy and, more significantly, to hint at what may happen next. This mainly included the Stranger Things spin-off that had been promised to the fans back in 2022, and so far, there has been no word about the status of the project.
“We’re being very careful. We don’t want to rush it. We don’t want it to be anything but excellent. No one wants to make it just to make it. No one wants to just do it to continue Stranger Things. Like, it has to be awesome or forget it. That’s sort of everybody’s mentality about it,” said the Duffer Brothers.
The Duffers made it very clear that they are not going to rush the spin-off in order to release it as soon as possible, despite the pressure to ride the tide of the astronomical success of the flagship series. They want this next chapter of the beloved franchise to be as flavorful as it can be, and for this, they must give it time to cook.
The world has been anxiously anticipating information about the much-awaited live-action Stranger Things spin-off since the Duffer Brothers established their production firm, Upside Down Pictures. Joking about getting into problems with co-CEO Ted Sarandos, the creators tried hard to keep most of the details about the project under wraps.
However, they did reveal a few significant clues about the structure of the program. While some of this has already been stated in other interviews, they have dropped some new information this time about the spin-off.
The Duffer Brothers gave more insight on the Stranger Things spin-off
The Duffer Brothers clarified in the interview that none of the original Hawkins crew members - Eleven, Mike, Dustin, or anybody else - will be central to the spin-off. The brothers affirmed that the characters in the upcoming series are completely new and different. Furthermore, Josh Horowitz's question about whether the new series would have an anthology format like Black Mirror was promptly refuted by the creators.

While this new spin-off is taking its time to properly develop, Stranger Things has been keeping its audience busy with Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 at Netflix, which has already been renewed for a second season. With all this new information coming to light through the creators themselves, it might ease some of the agitation in the Stranger Things fanbase for the next saga in the universe.
