Netflix is reopening the mystery of the skies with Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery, a new sci-fi series announced on August 28, 2026, that expands the world of Manifest. The original supernatural drama ran for four seasons between 2018 and 2023, following Flight 828 passengers who landed more than five years after their disappearance without having aged. 

Now, the franchise is preparing to investigate another plane-related enigma, this time involving passengers who cannot remember who they are.

Netflix has not announced an official premiere date for Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery. However, production listings indicate that filming is scheduled to run from January 19 through June 9, 2027, in Vancouver, British Columbia. That means viewers should not expect an immediate return to the Manifest universe, particularly because a mystery-driven series of this scale will need time for post-production. An early 2028 release is possible, but Netflix has not confirmed a launch window. 

The creative team is already familiar territory for longtime viewers. What's On Netflix reported that, original Manifest creator Jeff Rake returns alongside Margaret Easley and Laura Putney, who previously worked on the original series and will serve as co-creators and co-showrunners. Their involvement offers continuity behind the scenes, even as the story introduces an entirely new group of characters.

Unlike Manifest, which centered on the Stone family and Flight 828, Arrivals appears to be building its own ensemble. Whether any original cast members return remains unconfirmed.

According to the series’ official premise, Arrivals begins when a mysterious plane crash-lands in Denver, leaving its passengers unable to remember their identities, where they came from, or why they are there. Zoe and Mike Deaver team up with the newcomers to investigate the circumstances surrounding their arrival and prevent a catastrophe that could threaten humanity. The setup echoes the original series’ fascination with impossible aviation events, missing time, and people whose lives become entangled in a mystery far bigger than themselves.

However, Arrivals is not simply another Flight 828 story with a different flight number. The original series concluded in 2023 after exploring the passengers’ callings, their connection to a mysterious divine force, and their struggle to avert the Death Date. The new show introduces a separate plane incident, in an attempt to ressurect Manifest and an entirely new set of characters, while retaining the supernatural suspense that defined its predecessor. How the new mystery connects to the wider mythology of Manifest, and whether familiar faces might return, remains unknown.

With its original creative team back and a fresh mystery ready to unfold, Arrivals has the opportunity to welcome longtime Manifesters while giving new viewers an entry point into the franchise.
