As the years go by, the universe of The Witcher continues to grow and expand. Having begun from the pages of the novel series, three video game parts were introduced by CD Projekt before the breakthrough Netflix adaptation of The Witcher. And now, as Netflix aims to bring the fourth season of the show to its fans, updates have queued up about a special project from The Witcher world to make space by the year-end.

For those wondering, this upcoming project is not a new season, spin-off, or video game. Therefore, fans should remain calm, as 2024 seems set to be chaotic for The Witcher enthusiasts.

As Netflix reintroduces Geralt in The Witcher 4 to smoothen the transition from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth, The Witcher universe has shouldered the responsibility to keep the fans on their toes amidst the drastic overhaul. Although several derivatives have been developed so far, the newest addition seems to be another adaptation of the books. Dark Horse Editions recently announced the upcoming publication of a third comic book album, slated for a release by the end of this year.

The publishing house has previously created two comic book adaptations of the first book in The Witcher saga, The Last Wish. The third comic book installment, titled The Edge of the World, is based on the short story of the same name from the collection Le Dernier Veu, the first book in the saga. Adapted by Magdalena Salik and Tomasso Bennato, The Edge of the World is scheduled for release in bookstores on December 17, 2024, and in comic book shops on December 18, 2024.

Magdalena Salik confessed to Dark Horse Editions that The Edge of The World is one of his “favorites” from the cartel of Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher stories. The reason he establishes this is one of intrigue and curiosity as he narrates how Sapkowski aims to detangle the preconceived notions about devils and pixies to defamiliarize the concepts of bad and evil.

Tomasso Bennato adds that as a fantasy lover, working on The Witcher’s story was an emotional trial that he hopes fans will rejoice in. Although both of them cautioned fans to expect the unexpected, with The Witcher, fans surely will have it no other way. Hence, for those who were buckling up for The Witcher 4, the Witcherverse has added another reason to keep the seat belts tight.
