After Adidas, Luxury Brand Balenciaga Cuts Ties With Billionaire Rapper Kanye West, Following a Spree of Controversies

Is Kanye West facing the consequences of his actions? The celebrity had always been a believer in practicing his freedom of speech and expression. That thought has been majorly opposed by people who draw a line between the right to speak and the right to offend. And that has been evident through the ever-increasing list of West’s foes.

The entertainer has undoubtedly been a cash cow for companies that he collaborated with so far. This is likely the reason they have kept mum over his controversial social media activities. But public pressure and the degree of offensiveness have likely put brands in a spot to reconsider their partnerships. In the latest development, luxury brand Balenciaga has made a decision on Ye.

Balenciaga follows Adidas on cutting ties with Kanye West

Looks like the month of Halloween will be full of tricks for the hip-hop artist, as brands have decided to distance themselves from him. Kanye managed to lose more than his social media freedom these last few days. The rapper got into a series of actions by attacking Adidas, wearing and defending his White Lives Matter T-shirts, as well as posting a highly offensive antisemitic comment. Adidas, which so far respected his difference of opinion, was forced to reconsider eventually, with his “Deathcon 3 to Jewish people” comment, especially since it is a German brand.

Following the action was Balenciaga, whose parent company Kering responded in a query, “Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist.” Ye, thanks to his artistic skills, was previously involved in projects with the brand’s creative director Demna Gvasalia. In fact, he and his estranged wife Kim Kardashian even appeared in campaigns for the brand previously.

Despite Kanye being the one to introduce Kim to the brand, their association with the socialite will probably continue despite letting go of Kanye. The news came in days after the Gold Digger singer walked the ramp for the brand during the fashion week.
