Every series has some trademark that it develops over the years. For example, Game of Thrones has one of the best CGI. Similarly, The Witcher also developed a trademark in just two seasons, i.e., Jaskier’s songs. From memes to your playlist, Jaskier’s songs are trending everywhere.

Jaskier (Joey Batey) is a bard, so people expect songs from him, but Joey surpassed our expectations in season one. Of course, back then, it was the Toss A Coin To Your Witcher that hooked us. But, today we discuss a very special song that you might relate to if you ever had a breakup.

Burn Butcher Burn – Breakup song of the year

Geralt is the subject of Jaskier’s song, who felt betrayed by the witcher. When the two parted ways at the end of season one, things ended on a bitter note. Mostly because Geralt irrationally blamed Jaskier for all his troubles and wished for the bard to leave his side. Like every composer, Jaskier also fuelled his rage into a song.

Jaskier doesn’t hold back in this song when he attacks Geralt where it hurts the most. Geralt got the nickname, ‘Butcher of Blaviken’ when he tried to solve a conflict in Blaviken but ended up killing Renfri and her mercenaries. Geralt had to leave the town with a stain, not of blood but pride.

In an interview, when speaking about the song Joey said,

“I wanted to bring in something that was characterful, and was perhaps emotionally impactful, and that was driving some more of this narrative and the characterization of the characters.”

Why is The Witcher song so catchy?

Season one’s hit can be credited to the fusion of the pop and folk genres. However, in season two, it was a conscious effort by Joseph and Joey to make the songs a little less pop. Different instruments and relatable lyrics might have done the work this time. Whatever it is, fans should hope that the same magic continues for the upcoming seasons.

Even though Jaskier and Geralt were not a couple, they had their moments. ‘Burn Butcher Burn’ beautifully describes their relationship, and if it reminds you of someone, you can add it to your playlist.
