As per Netflix's press release, production for the highly anticipated A Different World sequel series has officially finished in Atlanta, Georgia. This new chapter returns to the fictional Hillman College to follow the romantic and academic lives of a modern student body.

The new cast additions bring a formidable blend of veteran talent and legacy connections to the halls of Hillman College. Clifford Method Man Smith, known for his standout roles in The Wire and Power Book II, steps onto campus as Coach Coles to lead the athletic department.

He is joined by Norman Nixon Jr., who portrays Professor Baptiste, adding a fresh academic perspective to the legendary halls. Complementing these new additions are legacy favorites Karen Malina White and Ajai Sanders, who return to their beloved roles as Charmaine Brown and Gina Deveaux to bridge the gap between generations.

According to Tudum, A Different World's sequel story focuses on Deborah, the rebellious youngest child of Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert. As she enters her freshman year, she struggles to escape the immense reputation of her parents. Her journey involves finding a unique voice while surrounded by Hillman's most promising young minds.

Showrunner Felicia Pride expressed immense gratitude for the collective effort required to bring the fictional HBCU back to life. She emphasized that the dedication of the cast and crew has successfully captured the heart and magic intended for this modern revival.

Original series writers Reggie Rock Bythewood and Gina Prince-Bythewood return as executive producers for the first season.
