Netflix US is about to usher in the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon in early February 2026, right after the film's run on Peacock, following its theatrical debut as What's on Netflix reported. The live-action version arrived in theaters on June 13, 2025, in an incredible feature that turned DreamWorks’ dragon folklore into stunning visuals and heartwarming storytelling, thus making it one of the most eagerly awaited family films of the year.

Dean DeBlois, who directed the original coming-of-age animated trilogy, is the director, writer, and co-producer of the live-action How to Train Your Dragon, which subsequently became a more faithful adaptation of the original animated film. The movie will start streaming on Netflix starting Tuesday, February 10th, 2026.

Prior to Netflix, the movie first streamed on Peacock on October 10, 2025. Following a long-term deal with Amazon Prime Video for Universal Pictures' live-action films, the movie briefly streamed on Prime Video before returning to Peacock. However, with Netflix US now finally streaming the live-action gem, the epic Viking adventure finally found a permanent home.

Follow the adventures of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, a 16-year-old young spirited Viking who goes against the grain to gain acceptance in his dragon-hunting tribe in How to Train Your Dragon. Berk is a harsh land where dragons and humans are enemies, and Hiccup risks everything when he befriends the rare dragon he once harmed, named Night Fury, whom he later names Toothless.

The duo's wild connection and compassion not only question Viking myths but also alter the destiny of humankind and dragons. Dean DeBlois made sure to perfect the remake in a world full of Hollywood re-imaginations that frequently fall flat.
