The Last Ship quickly became a worldwide streaming phenomenon after landing on Netflix on June 22, 2026. The Hollywood Reporter's THR Charts reveal that the TNT series sits in the third spot on the list of Top 10 Streaming (movies and TV series) - Overall and in the first spot on the list of Top 10 Streaming - Acquired, per Nielsen’s streaming data.

According to a report by Collider dated July 1, The Last Ship ranked No. 10 on Netflix's Global Top 10 shows with 1.9 million views and 13.1 million hours viewed over the week of June 22–28. The Last Ship is a show that was always well-positioned for success on Netflix thanks to its combination of intense action and the availability of several full seasons.

The THR Charts also reveal that the show is only surpassed by Netflix’s I Will Find You, which ranks first, and Love Island USA, which is available on Peacock / Disney+ / Paramount+. The TNT series has been streamed for 1,232 million minutes as compared to Love Island USA’s 1,966 million and I Will Find You’s 2,484 million.

The show’s strong performance among streaming content is a testament to its plot and the talent attached to it.

The Last Ship on Netflix, which followed the crew of a U.S. missile destroyer after a worldwide virus wipes out the majority of humanity, ran for five seasons from 2014 to 2018. Critics praised The Last Ship's action-packed storyline and charismatic cast, which provide an entertaining ride even though its tried-and-true formula does not explore much unfamiliar territory. The show received largely positive reviews, earning 65% and 86% Rotten Tomatoes scores for the first and second seasons, respectively. Over the course of its five seasons, the show had an average audience score of 68%.

Titus Welliver played a cameo role as Andrew Thorwald, a local warlord and head of the underground resistance in Baltimore who fights to defend survivors. The show is currently streaming on Netflix and is continuing to find newer and newer audiences.
