The NFL was already giving Thanksgiving a Wednesday-night plot twist, and now it has added a rock-and-roll cherry on top. The league announced its first-ever Thanksgiving Eve game, featuring the Green Bay Packers visiting the Los Angeles Rams on Wednesday, but apparently, one historic first was not enough. U2 has now been announced as the halftime headliner, with the entire spectacle set to stream live on Netflix.

It looks like the big leagues are bringing out the big sounds, with rock and roll ready to make this NFL first a night worth tuning in for.

The NFL has found a way to make Thanksgiving week even louder with U2 doing the honors. Both the NFL and Netflix announced that the Irish rock legends will headline halftime during the league’s first-ever Thanksgiving Eve game on November 25, 2026. The Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams will face off at SoFi Stadium, with the musical spectacle streaming live on Netflix.

For U2, the performance is more than a high-profile gig wedged between football plays. The Dublin-born band will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026, making this a particularly fitting year to return to one of American sports’ biggest entertainment stages. The group last delivered a memorable NFL marquee performance at Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002, when its tribute to the victims of September 11 became one of the event’s defining moments.

According to Netflix Tudum, the streaming platform’s official editorial site, the Thanksgiving Eve matchup will bring U2 back to the NFL spotlight nearly 25 years after that Super Bowl appearance. The November 25 game will kick off at 8 p.m. ET, with the Green Bay Packers visiting the Los Angeles Rams in Inglewood, California. It is also set to mark U2’s first performance at SoFi Stadium.

Netflix is on a winning streak with the NFL, from its Australia takeover to landing U2 for Thanksgiving Eve, and now fans have a setlist to speculate about.

The star of the halftime show's speculated setlist

U2 could have 50 years of rock history to choose from, but its newest album might just steal the spotlight at the NFL halftime show. 'Carnaval de Luz', the band’s 16th studio album and first collection of original material in nine years, arrives on November 13, 2026, barely two weeks before the Thanksgiving Eve game. With 12 tracks spanning punk-infused energy and atmospheric experimentation, the record offers plenty of fresh material to bring to the stadium.

The potential setlist gets even more interesting with collaborations involving Rosalía, Martin Garrix and Brian Eno, while Netflix has also teased special guests for the performance. Rosalía could join the band for ‘The Mirror Maker’, while ‘Glorify’ offers an opportunity for an electronic-heavy moment with Martin Garrix. Whether U2 leans into its new era or sticks to its greatest hits remains to be seen, but 'Carnaval de Luz 'could make this 50th-anniversary halftime show a whole new kind of spectacle.
